A wet dog after a swim, a bath or a rainy walk means towels everywhere, a damp car and a long session with the hair dryer. A dog drying robe (also called a dog drying coat or dog towel robe) solves that: the owner slips it on, the towelling fabric soaks up the water, and the dog dries while staying warm. That’s why drying robes have become a steady seller for pet brands and retailers in Europe and the US.
At YuRong we develop and manufacture super-absorbent microfiber dog drying robes for brands as an OEM/ODM partner. This guide covers what makes a good drying robe, which details matter to dog owners, and how to develop a private-label version with a manufacturer in China.
What a dog drying robe does
A drying robe is a fitted, hooded towel for dogs. Instead of rubbing the dog down by hand, the owner puts the robe on and the fabric absorbs the water from the coat. The benefits that dog owners care about:
- Faster drying, less blow-drying. The towelling draws water out of the coat while the dog wears it, so far less time is spent with a dryer after a bath.
- A clean car and home. Put it on at the beach, lake or groomer, and the water and sand stay in the robe instead of on the seats and sofa.
- Warmth after swimming. Wet dogs cool down quickly in wind and cold water; a robe keeps them comfortable.
- Less stress than towelling. Many dogs dislike being rubbed down; a robe goes on in a few seconds.

Design features that make a drying robe work
Not every towel shaped like a coat dries a dog well. These are the details we build into our robes, and what your customers will notice:
Super-absorbent microfiber waffle weave
Microfiber’s very fine fibres soak up water quickly and release it again when the robe is wrung out. The waffle texture adds surface area to take up even more water, and the fabric stays light enough for active dogs to walk in. The fabric covers the neck, chest, back and flanks, where long or double coats hold the most water.
Hood with drawcord toggle
A hood dries the head and ears, the parts owners find hardest to towel. A drawcord with a toggle adjusts the opening, and the hood can also fold down to sit as a collar.
Adjustable belly strap with quick-release buckle
A strap around the belly holds the robe close to the body so it absorbs evenly and doesn’t slip off when the dog shakes or walks. The quick-release buckle makes it fast to put on and take off.
Elasticated back hem and bound edges
An elasticated hem keeps the robe in place over the hindquarters, and bound edges give a neat, durable finish.

Customising a private-label dog drying robe
As an OEM/ODM manufacturer, we can develop the robe around your brand and your customers:
- Colours. Choose your own colourways. Blue and pink are shown here, and we can match trims, binding and straps to the main colour.
- Sizes. Our standard robe comes in two sizes, M and L. For OEM orders we can develop additional sizes for the breeds your customers own. A clear size chart, usually based on back length (neck to base of tail) and chest girth, cuts returns.
- Branding. Woven or printed logo labels, care labels, hang tags and custom retail packaging.
- Details. Hood shape, strap position and buckle type, a hanging loop, or a different fabric weight for summer and winter collections.
You can start from our existing design (ODM) or send your own tech pack or a reference sample (OEM). Read more about our garment development process.
From sample to bulk order
We produce drying robes in our own factory in Zhenjiang alongside our other pet products, with the same process we use for apparel:
- Sampling. Samples are usually ready within 3–7 days once fabric, colours and sizes are confirmed. See apparel sampling stages explained.
- Fit check. Samples are checked on a dog mannequin, and fit comments are built into the pre-production sample.
- Bulk production. Typically 30–45 days after pre-production sample approval, depending on quantity.
- Quality control. We check fabric, stitching, binding, strap and buckle function and measurements, and run a final inspection to AQL 2.5. Learn how AQL inspection works.
Our typical MOQ is around 500 pieces per style, and we are happy to discuss smaller first orders and colour splits.

FAQ
What is the difference between a dog drying robe and a dog towel?
A towel has to be rubbed over the dog by hand. A drying robe is shaped like a coat with a hood and strap, so it stays on and keeps absorbing water while the dog walks around, which dries the dog faster and with less effort.
What sizes are available?
Our standard dog drying robe comes in sizes M and L. For OEM orders we can develop additional sizes to match your target breeds, with a size chart based on back length and chest girth.
What is the robe made of?
Super-absorbent microfiber in a waffle weave, with bound edges, a drawcord hood and an adjustable belly strap with quick-release buckle.
Can we put our own brand on the drying robe?
Yes. We offer private-label production with your logo label, care labels, hang tags and packaging.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Typically around 500 pieces per style. Contact us to discuss colour splits and first orders.
